Another Beautiful Day in Paris

Unfortunately, I look like crap! It was sunny and near 60 here today—unbelievable! One of the things on my list for a sunny day was a city bus route recommended by--who else but--Rick Steves. Starting from Ecole Militaire and for the cost of one Metro ticket, the route gives an interesting overview of the city. This also gave us an opportunity for Suz to see the Eiffel Tower in the daylight. We ended our bus tour at the Pere Lachaise cemetery and after wandering through that again—in the sun this time instead of in the rain and wind--, we walked home for lunch.

This is proof that Suz is really here and that we are truly in Paris (not bad for a self-portrait)! Unfortunately, my arm is only so long (pictures of me are usually taken from farther away and I look better than this) but Suz's arm is shorter and we would've only gotten our noses in the picture if she would've taken it. (We're laughing so hard as we post this...)

Today was the last day of one of the twice-yearly soldes (sales) so we went to the Grand Boulevards where all the department stores stay open until 7:30 PM on Saturday night. Every store window now has replaced their Dernieriere reduction (final reduction) signs with Nouvelle facon (new fashion) signs. And I think these ladies look like they are more than ready for the sales to end….and for some new clothes. So does the guy walking by…
