This is it—the packing is nearly (yikes!) done (what a mess the apartment is); the boarding pass is printed; the refrigerator is getting cleaned out; and the dishes are almost done. I'll be shutting down the computer soon and will leave tomorrow morning for the airport around 7:30 AM. It was beautiful outside today; and I've just returned from my second long walk of the day--stopped at Notre-Dame, of course, to say a prayer for a safe trip home. While on both last walks around the city, I didn't want to come back to the apartment.
I am sad to leave Paris but am now also anxious (finally) to get home and see what the future holds. I hope the flight leaves on time (and arrives safely in Houston, of course); my car starts; there is air in all tires; the condo is as I left it… I’ve already heard that the W2 form from my former employer was returned to them mark “unclaimed.” Hmmm, what do you think that means?? Is it some kind of (bad) sign??
I have really enjoyed writing this blog and I know there have been others reading it—some I don’t even know! Occasionally, I found myself addressing you, the audience—whoever “you” are. But this is my personal journal—my impressions during my 10-week stay in this beautiful city. It was faster for me than writing it long-handed, which I’ve always done in the past. It saved my poor, tired, old writing hand and also allowed me to post my favorite pictures, saved me from repeating the same things over and over in emails, and also from sending post cards.
I will be continuing the blog for awhile after I get home because I still have some postings to document so I don’t forget. And I still have pictures to share. This may even save me from doing an album like I have done for all my other European (and some US) trips—lots of work and it takes too much time.
So, au revoir from Paris and a bientot! I’m glad you enjoyed the “tour” with me!
